"The 52 lesson audio course on 5 CDs on playing songs using chords and chording patterns -- for adult beginners who want to take their time & do it right"
Dear Friend:
How would you like to master
-- really master -- the art of playing the piano using a "chording"
style?
Here's
your opportunity on five audio CD's that you can listen to whenever you like --
around the house, in the car when you are commuting to work, or whatever. Then
later in the day you can sit down at the piano and rehearse what you learned
earlier.
It's a
BIG, thorough course in playing the piano using chords on 5 audio CD's
along with a 144
page BIG book that covers each of the 52 lessons you will be listening to on the
CD's, plus a bonus DVD that kind of sums up the entire course, all in a big,
beautiful binder to hold it all.
It's about
learning the piano the fun and easy way -- by using chords to fill out the music
you will be learning to read and therefore making your learning a joy instead of
a chore.
When I was a kid, my Mom
played the piano by reading the notes in a piece of music -- like most
everyone does. It was fine, but not near as exciting as what my Dad
did. He didn't read music like my Mom, but he played those wonderful,
fun "chording things" that everybody loves. We sang along as he
played, and it was great fun.
During those years I took
piano lesson from a little old lady teacher named Mrs. Graham. Looking
back, I feel sorry for her, because I was interested in everything
EXCEPT piano playing. I even took my baseball glove with me to a
lesson one day...
And I basically got nowhere. Oh --
I could play a few pieces: I remember "Swans On The Lake", and "Indian
War Dance", and "Santa Lucia". Hardly the stuff that excites a
young boy.
I wish you could have seen me play
the piano when I was just learning. I was the nearest thing to
“hopeless”
that you could imagine. I was into baseball, not music – and my heroes
were Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, and Ted Williams. (And by the way, I
still have a picture of those 3 guys on my wall.)
My dream was to hit
baseballs like them, not to play the piano.
But an opportunity to play with a
combo presented itself to me when I was a freshman in high school.
Seems the piano player of the group had graduated the previous year,
and nobody else played piano well enough to play in the school jazz
combo. I didn’t know zilch about playing in a group, and I didn’t know
chords. But I was excited to have the opportunity to play with older
guys, and so I took the job.
The lead sax player told me I
really should know chords in order to play in the group, so I searched
through a music magazine until I found an ad for a chord chart. It
cost two bucks, as I recall, so I sent off for it. When I received it
in the mail I slipped it behind the keys on my parents old upright
piano, and promptly learned to play my first chord – Dm7. I LOVED the
sound of it, and was hooked for life on chords. The 2nd
chord I learned was Cmaj7, then Em7, then Ebm7 – and before that first
night was over I had learned to play “Frankie & Johnnie” – the tune in
my right hand, and those fabulous 7th chords in my left
hand!
Chords changed my life
-- they can change yours too
I loved it – LOVED IT – LOVED IT!
And it even sounded good enough to impress some of my friends the next
day. I suppose that simple chord chart that cost me two bucks has been
worth several million over the course of my lifetime. And much more
than that, has been worth quadrillions in pleasure and satisfaction
and relaxation and……
So why should YOU care? What does that
mean to you?
Because that high
school freshman with the two-dollar chord chart went on to learn
more about chords than
most anyone in the known universe,
and all his
courses are LOADED with knowledge about chords and chord progressions and
chord substitutions and chord
extensions and chord modulations and chord
improvisations and………
…..and he teaches you step by step,
chord by chord, style by style,
technique by technique….
how to use chords to make the
sounds YOU want to make,
to
play the songs YOU want to play.
Even though I came in the back
door as far as piano playing was concerned, I learned fast because of
what I knew about chords, so college was a snap, and so was my
post-graduate Masters Degree at Southern Oregon University. After high
school I studied with several of the finest private teachers on the
West Coast, including a year with THE finest teacher – his name was
Dave – and his studio was on Cauhenga Blvd. in Hollywood. As I would
come for my piano lesson, I would often pass a big name recording
artist coming to their lesson – and anyone who was anyone in Hollywood
in those days took lessons from Dave.
Dave taught me 2 fundamental
principles about piano playing:
1.
The piano is NOT played
with the hands – it is played with the
brain. The hands are just
tools.
2.
If you master
chord relationships, you can
master music.
I’ve got
little fat hands with
short fingers. Hardly the ideal hands for piano playing.
But you know what? Because of those
two principles Dave taught me, I can play “above” my fat hands.
Above?
Yes.
Above.
Once a person
“gets into the flow” of understanding chord relationships
and then letting the brain knowledge flow into the hands, that person
plays “above” his ability.
What You Discover Here Will Change Your Musical Life Forever.
Why?
Because in this
52-lesson course on 5 audio CD's, I
literally take you by the hand, answer all your questions, and show
you exactly how to do it.
"Chording
Secrets of Exciting Piano Playing!"
The "chording" system has the advantage over traditional methods in
two ways:
-
You
understand the "why" of music right from the start. Instead of so
much memorization and learning by rote, you learn HOW scales
are formed, HOW chords are formed from scales, WHY
minor chords sound different than major chords, and so on. You understand
what your fingers a re doing, and why
they are doing it.
-
You
start playing songs that sound good right away. No need to practice
Tweedle-Dum and Tweedle-Dee for months before playing something you
enjoy. Start playing your favorite songs after the first few lessons
-- because ALL SONGS are made out of
CHORDS!
Well, I
could go on and on about the course, but by now I think you see that
if you ever want to play the piano using chords,
this is the course you should take. It's a fabulous
course, and if you will look on the order page, you will see that I'm
offering up to 7 free bonuses when you order.
If you're not convinced yet, here are 8 more reasons you will want to
take this course:
-
A fraction the cost of private lessons!
If you could take 52 private lessons from me in person (I don't
teach privately anymore since my heart attack) it would cost over five thousand dollars.
And you probably would not have
time to cover all the subjects in this 52-lesson course. Yet this
course costs only a tiny fraction of what private lessons would
cost, and it's your to review over and over again!
-
Get your head on straight!
Learn
how to categorize musical knowledge so you will understand music as
you play. Understanding is the key to mastering any subject,
including music. You'll learn to organize your knowledge of rhythm,
harmony, keys, sharps, flats, melody, chords, and a great deal more.
-
Play styles galore!
Teach your
left hand to play many different styles. Learn how to play with an
"orchestral" sound. Learn how to sound "country-western." Learn the
secret of that modern, jazz-oriented sound. Learn a boogie bass.
Learn how Shearing gets that "block-chord" sound. Learn alternating
bass, arpeggios, walking bass, broken chords, and others.
-
Learn to improvise!
Learn to create
your own music as you go along. Learn about the "delay-catch-up
technique." Learn how certain grace notes can give your playing a
"flavor" of it's own. Learn about triplet fillers, non-chord
leaders, imitations, moving bass lines, tremelo, and other
improvisational techniques. Improvisation is not a magical ability
possessed by only a few -- it can be learned!
-
Chords, chords, and more chords!
Learn how to play chords with both your right and left hands. Learn
how to use chords to improvise. Learn how to break up your chords.
Learn how to "shake" your chords. Chords in the course are shown as
you play them on the piano, so you can SEE which fingers to use --
which notes to play. You wil also learn how to play from chord
symbols such as G7, Fm7, D9, and so on.
-
Fill up those empty spots! Learn
how to add runs, breaks, fillers, etc. to your piano playing. Learn
how to arrange a song in advance. Learn how to make up your own
intros and endings for your songs. Most pianists just "play what is
written," but you will be able to do that PLUS add all kinds of
extra exciting material to a song. This ability makes you stand out
among pianists.
-
A 52-Lesson Course! Take 52
weeks or 52 days or 52 years -- it's up to you how fast you
progress. I just show you what to do -- but you have to make it
happen! This course covers everything from chord formation to
playing by ear to chord progressions to improvisation to various
bass styles to sight-reading to chord symbols to polytonality to
playing modern chord sounds, plus lots of practice songs. All 52
printed lessons come to you bound together, so you'll have
everything in one place -- plus of course the 5 instructional CD's
where I demonstrate and walk you carefully through each of the 52
lessons.

which is why I call it the "headless DVD."
